REFLECTIONS (PAY ATTENTION)

1) Paying attention to big things that happen is easy. What are some of the small things you are missing out?
ANS: The small details that I miss out are the small details I tend not to see or care about.
2) How does technology distract you from paying attention?
ANS: Using technology can be for relaxing or for work, so I might relax, but continuously do it.
3) Spend some time in silence and pay attention to your inner life. What is bubbling to the surface?

Today

Today, we had an I&E lecture at the library in our school, and the school had specially called a group of people specially for innovation up to explain to us what innovation was all about.
First, we were taught what innovation and creativity was, and what the difference was. The instructor gave an example. George Quek, the creator of BreadTalk, was one of the examples.
After that, we watched a video about a company called 'IDEO'.It was a video about how Ideo managed to improvise a supermarket cart and turn it into a better product in just 5 days!
The people at Ideo are innovative and do work in the following manner:
-Encourage wild ideas
-Stay focused
-Team-work
-One conversation at a time
-Before judgment, build on the ideas of others.
This is the quote that i like the most:
-Chaos can be constructive!
We also saw that Ideo encouraged people to do what they wanted, and also make their own workspace!

Ans: I will see the other persons' expression, body language and reaction and use the appropriate tone and form of communication.
4 What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?
Ans: The greatest difficulty I face is that the people I communicate with either misinterpret my words, or do not understand what I am trying to say.

School camp @ Sarimbun Scout Camp

    Hi everyone!

My chums and I just went home from Camp yesterday, from Sarimbun Scout Camp.
Let me tell you what happened...
On day one, we came to school at seven o'clock and we were going to go to camp. First , we met our instructors, introduced by the camp chief, Rio. After doing so, we proceeded to go onto the bus. Class 1-02 was split into half and half of the class went with Class 1-01 while the other half went with our class, 1-03, Class 1-05 was split into half and vice versa. When we boarded the bus, I was sitting with Gavin, Jin Hao and Keith. we were telling jokes to kill time. When we finally reached the camp, I found out that my P5 Camp was actually opposite this camp! It had been raining cats and dogs, so the ground was very muddy.

We (our class) went into the camp's dining hall. There, we had to wait for the other groups to come in. There, Rio told us what was expected of us, told us our cheers, and, of course, assigned us our camp dormitories. The girls dormitories were located right next to the cafeteria (so convenient for them, as their           dorms were just next to the MPH (multi-purpose hall), and next to almost everywhere, or so I learned after I knew the position where our dorms were...).Our dorms were located far far away from everything,  and it was more of a classroom than a dorm. We boys had to trudge down a long distance away from the cafeteria, and god, was the floor muddy! We saw that there was another school there, called St Margrets. When we reached the classroom, I (or should I say we), were shocked! We were actually sleeping in a classroom! But there was no grumbling about this, so we put our bags down and took out our day pack and trudged back down to the canteen.
At the canteen, we had to cheer too get our lunch (and so would the other meals be) and Rio then told us if we had any wet activities that day, we would have to change into our wet clothes. As my group would be doing rock climbing that day, so we went back to our dorm to change into our long pants and we had to be back at the cafeteria by a certain time. At the rock climbing station, we were made to take off any hard object from our wrists or anywhere else. The instructor, Sunny told is what to do, who would hold you when you fell and vice versa. When prompted for volunteers, I stepped forward and became the first person to climb the wall.

'Expanding our learning networks'

  • 1)What do you understand about the school value "Expanding Our Learning Networks"?
  • Ans: As we progress, we must learn to interact with the people around us and we must also improve ourselves by learning more about the subject. As information maybe limited, we have to expand our learning networks to learn more.
  • 2)Why is this value important and how will it help you in your learning experience in SST?
  • Ans: We need to foster this sense of learning more and not just learn what we have on hand.By following this, we will definitely learn more .

After the run
